Amazon Game Studios poaches a Ubisoft executive to lead its Montreal studio

Amazon Game Studios Montreal is hiring! And Alexandre Parizeau is one of the first takes of this new antenna. The defector from Ubisoft Toronto, where he has just spent 10 years as general manager, receives the management of the studio, which will be mobilized on a new competitive multiplayer game.

A title still unannounced, to which we wish a brighter future than a certain Crucible, whose catastrophic release had prompted Amazon to redo it to beta status before simply unplugging it a few weeks later.

A seasoned producer

Alexandre Parizeau has a bottle. With 20 years of experience in the video game industry, he is the co-founder of the Ubisoft Toronto studio, and credited as producer of Splinter Cell: Conviction and Blacklist, and as managing director on Rainbow Six Siege, Assassin's Creed Syndicate, Far Cry 5 or more recently Watch Dogs Legion.

“Alex has rare experience in building talented teams, and he fits perfectly with what we wanted for our new Montreal studio,” summarizes Christoph Hartmann, Vice President of Amazon Games, in a press release. “He has overseen the development of many successful franchises and, from the earliest conversations, has connected with the vision of the team, some of whose members have worked with him before. Alexandre will get down to building an exceptional team in Montreal today, and we look forward to sharing more when the time is right.”

A team that, we said, will work on creating a "multiplayer AAA title based on an original creation", says Amazon again. For his part, the main interested party says he is “privileged” to join this team, and is impatient to get to work with the aim of “innovating and pushing the creative and technical limits of current online games”.

Newly created, Amazon Game Studios Montreal joins other teams already established in Seattle, Orange County and San Diego.
