As expected, Alan Wake Remastered will bring its share of improvements compared to the original game. But the developers also took the time to correct a rather surprising aspect of the version launched in 2010.

If Alan Wake was able to make an impression thanks to his smoothly conducted narration and his unique atmosphere, Remedy Entertainment's game had nevertheless suffered some criticism on a very specific point. Indeed, no doubt in order to finance the development of the game at the time, the Finnish studio had used various product placements in the four corners of the fictional town of Bright Falls.

For example, the writer used only Energizer batteries to recharge his flashlight, Ford or Lincoln cars were present in the streets and the service provider Verizon also advertised in the game. Microsoft, which held exclusivity on Xbox 360, had also gone there for its small promotion. This week, Remedy confirmed that these product placements will no longer be relevant in the remastered version.

A representative of the studio said that the agreements made with these brands have quite logically come to an end. Their presence in Alan Wake Remastered is therefore not required. The affected elements will be replaced. However, music or radio broadcasts will be kept.

Alan Wake Remastered will be released on October 5, 2021 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC (Epic Games Store).
