Engaged in an internal struggle against cheating players, and this, for many months now, Activision had made the promise to crack down on this practice, deemed harmful and unfair by the publisher. With its new system called "Ricochet", Activision is bouncing back in this constant fight and intends to illustrate the expression " to great ills, great remedies " like it should be.

Aware that more needs to be done in this area, the publisher has announced the arrival of new tools and new measures for its battle royale, Call of Duty: Warzone, and its next opus, Call of Duty: Vanguard.

Activision strikes at the heart of the matter

For the upcoming launch of Call of Duty: Vanguard, whose protagonists were revealed yesterday, Activision wanted to send a strong message about cheating and put the dishes in the big by inaugurating an anti-cheat system that does not not in half measures.

Ricochet's flagship feature is simply its PC driver which will analyze all software and applications to check if they are trying to interact with the game or use it for unscrupulous purposes. The publisher is also categorical on this subject: once the pilot is deployed, it will be mandatory to play Call of Duty: Warzone and Vanguard.

For the sake of transparency and respect for personal data, Activision is already keen, alongside the launch of Ricochet, to ensure that this driver at the operating system kernel level will only activate when players launch the app on PC and will only target activities related to the two titles.

Note that this tool has also been designed to be efficient even during cross-play confrontations between PC and console players since the latter will benefit, at the same time, from the advances made possible by this brand new anti-cheat system.

Ricochet goes further

Much more than just targeting the practice of cheating in the heart, Activision wants to fight the battle on several fronts, because the PC driver is added server improvements for the last two FPS to date from the editor.

But the series of measures does not stop there as Activision's draconian decisions are complemented by improved investigation processes and updates to, respectively, eradicate cheating and those who contribute to spreading it, and improve account and server security.

Nevertheless, the publisher still calls on players to be vigilant about the suspicious behavior of other players and invites the community gathered around the license to continue reporting.

Call of Duty: Warzone will be the first to benefit from this famous driver and the new anti-cheat features. No specific date has been given at this time, but it should coincide with the rollout of the Pacific update. The release of Call of Duty: Vanguard will mark the improvement of the servers while the pilot will arrive at a later date.
