Activision Blizzard: the publisher's games will not necessarily become Xbox exclusives

Will the next games published by Activision Blizzard be released exclusively on Xbox? That's the question everyone asks after the takeover of the American company by Microsoft. And we already have some answers.

By paying more than 68 billion dollars, Microsoft will afford Activision Blizzard. If the procedures will be long before the takeover can be definitively set in stone (probably not before June 2023), the question of exclusivities arises. Will Call of Duty, Overwatch, Diablo or Crash Bandicoot only arrive on Xbox in the future? Not necessarily…

A beacon of hope for PlayStation gamers

A source close to the American manufacturer told Bloomberg that "Microsoft plans to continue releasing Activision games on PlayStation consoles but will keep certain content exclusive to Xbox." Thus, only advantages, DLCs, or even extensions could only be released within the Xbox ecosystem. Phil Spencer, the boss of the Microsoft Gaming branch, went further.

The latter has stated that he has no intention of preventing players with a PlayStation console from playing Activision Blizzard productions. He does not want to "take the communities of these platforms away" from Xbox users. So Call of Duty and others could continue their adventures at Sony.
