A copy of the first The Legend of Zelda sold at auction for $870

Retrogaming has become a very lucrative market over the years and some games are extremely sought after. This is for example the case of this version of the very first The Legend of Zelda released on NES in 1987.

Back in April, a sealed copy of Super Mario Bros. was sold at auction for the astronomical amount of 660 dollars. A real record which then made it the most expensive video game in history. But records are made to be broken and the legendary mustachioed plumber has just been dethroned by a license that has accompanied him for years on Nintendo consoles. This is obviously The Legend of Zelda.

A nice jackpot for a simple game

Thus, it was on the online auction site Heritage Auctions that a sealed copy of Link's early adventures was put up for sale with a starting price set at $110. It must be said that this copy is very rare since it is a question of an NES R version produced in the United States for only a few months in 000. The Rev-A edition will replace it from 1987. This therefore makes it another copy very rare.

The bidding logically reached new heights and the sale was approved for $870 (approximately โ‚ฌ000). So this The Legend of Zelda also becomes the most expensive game of all time.
