Awaited by many players, the next-gen patch of cyberpunk 2077 is supposed to be deployed before the end of this year 2021. And if the CD Projekt RED teams have so far been reassuring about respecting their schedule, the discourse could soon change.

Despite the many patches deployed in recent months, the state of Cyberpunk 2077 is still not fully conclusive on consoles. Whether it's framerate or bugs, there's still a lot of work to do. Thus, some players have logically chosen to wait until the deployment of the PS5 / Xbox Series X|S upgrade to walk the streets of Night City in the best possible conditions.

Too tight a schedule?

CD Projekt RED has never changed its rhetoric about this patch which is still due out in the second half of 2021. But as September kicks off, no further information has been given about it. However, during a meeting with shareholders, the studio's director of business development recalled that, while the objective is to deploy the next-gen patch at the end of the year, the production schedule may still change.

To put it simply, CD Projekt does not rule out a postponement of the upgrade which is still in the development phase at present. Same story for the PS5 / Xbox Series X|S versions of The Witcher 3 which could only arrive in 2022. Of course, nothing is official yet but these delays are more and more likely.
