Cyberpunk 2077: a playable early build featuring content cut from the final version

While CD Projekt RED strives to patch cyberpunk 2077, specifically on consoles, a playable beta version from September 2020 has been discovered, featuring several elements cut from the final version.

A discovery that we owe in particular to Tyler McVickler, at the origin of the video in the introduction to this article. This therefore presents us with an early version of the game dating from September 2020, in reality available on all its physical versions. A version that presents content finally removed from the final version of the game, so as not to overload older generation consoles. Unfortunately, as we know today, it didn't really have the expected result.

Data found beyond the Black Wall

To achieve this result, Tyler McVickler did his best to disconnect his console from the Internet and installed the game manually via its physical copy, thus allowing him to access this early version of Cyberpunk 2077. We thus find many elements in an early state of development that were removed from the final version that we all know.

Among these cut contents, we find a jumble of other viewfinder models, the possibility of inspecting an inventory object in three dimensions or even a map taking into account the verticality of the available paths. It would also seem that some extra care had been given to some side quests, which were deeper and more diverse in their storytelling.

If CD Projekt RED is satisfied with the stability of the game on PC and the consoles continue to receive much-needed updates, the Polish studio could then work to reinject this missing content, in order to to better stick to its initial ambitions vis-à-vis Cyberpunk 2077.
