Taking advantage of Toyko Game Show Online 2021, Microsoft announced the rollout of the Xbox Cloud gaming (xCloud) in new countries, allowing the brand to reach more than one billion potential players.

Remember that the Cloud gaming service, currently being tested on consoles, allows Game Pass Ultimate subscribers to launch the games in the catalog while only caring about the quality and speed of their Internet connection.

Cloud Gaming: Brazil, Australia, Japan and Mexico enter the dance

In 2017, Microsoft changed its tune by launching the Game Pass, a subscription allowing access to dozens of titles for €12,99 per month. The objective is to depend less on proprietary media, to be present absolutely everywhere, and to encourage players to subscribe by adding first-party games as soon as they are launched. Since then, the service has evolved, and now integrates Xbox Cloud Gaming, previously known as Project xCloud.

With a good connection, it is thus possible to enjoy games without worrying about the equipment you have. However, this service integrated into the Ultimate formula is not yet available everywhere. During the Tokyo Game Show, Xbox announced the arrival of Cloud gaming in Brazil, Mexico, Japan, and Australia, starting tomorrow. In this way, the Game Pass is now able to reach more than one billion users.

“With the expansion of Xbox Cloud Gaming to Australia, Brazil, Japan and Mexico, more than one billion people in 26 countries can now play Game Pass titles from their smartphones, tablets and PCs. ".

An assumed objective of 3 billion players

On its official website, Microsoft says it is "combining the legacy of Xbox and the power of Azure servers" to deliver an immersive gaming experience to over 3 billion gamers. First launched by running Xbox One X, the Xbox Cloud Gaming service now uses Series X, with the objective of offering a next-gen experience, even in the Cloud. Obviously, the launch of Game Pass Ultimate and the Cloud was highly anticipated in Brazil. In the press release from Xbox, we can indeed read:

“This journey to bring Cloud Gaming to these four new countries has been a true community partnership. As we tested it through our preview program, we learned a lot from the players who participated. Thanks to Brazilian gamers, who filled our cloud gaming servers even before we announced our early access launch. »

Yesterday, Microsoft launched Xbox Cloud Gaming to members of the Xbox Insiders program. If this test is conclusive, the option will be offered to all players by the end of the year. In principle, this should allow players with an Xbox One X to play Microsoft Flight Simulator, without having to install it.
