Total War: Warhammer III: Architect of Change Tzeentch Faction Revealed

The Creative Assembly continues its wave of announcements for Total War Warhammer III and this time introduces us to the faction of Tzeentch, one of the four Chaos Gods.

After Kislev, Khorne and Grand Cathay, it's the turn of the Architect of Change to be highlighted in an epic trailer. The faction, its various mechanics, and other Chaos Gods specifics have been detailed via a dedicated blog post.

The change is now

Much anticipated by fans of the Warhammer universe, the four Gods of Chaos can finally be represented in a Total War: Warhammer game. We had already been treated to a presentation of the faction of Khorne, the emblematic Blood God perched on his Throne of Skulls. It is now up to Tzeentch, the Great Manipulator, to unveil his machiavellian plans.

Unlike his extremely belligerent brother, Tzeentch is primarily skilled in the arcane arts, manipulation, and cunning. If his armies are not lacking in strong warriors, most of his troops are rather fragile but powerful in magic. Many creatures altered by the Winds of Magic were featured in this trailer, as well as Chaos Warriors propelled at full speed on magic discs.

Leading them as the faction's first revealed Legendary Lord is Kairos Fateweaver, Oracle of Tzeentch in the form of a two-headed bird and terrifying spellcaster. He will thus have access to more powerful magic than his minions as they manipulate the Winds of Magic. Tzeentch armies will also have much higher magic reserves than other factions and will even be able to teleport around the world through dedicated doors.

Grimoires and Machinations

In addition to his armies, Tzeentch will of course have his say and his plans to weave on the campaign map. Passionate about knowledge, the Architect of Change is constantly on the lookout for ancient and forbidden knowledge. By performing various actions during the campaign, he will accumulate Grimoires which will become valuable resources during the game.

One of the main uses of these Grimoires is Changing the Ways. Tzeentch can thus observe various elements on the campaign map, even if his armies are not physically present. If he has enough resources, he can even alter said card according to his wishes, for example by changing the faction that controls a city, opening the gates of a city during a siege, and many other options worthy of his reputation.

The Gods of Chaos vowing an eternal rivalry, this will be represented in the game by different mechanics such as the Corruption of a region, already present in previous games, but redesigned for the occasion. The greater the Corruption of Chaos is for a given God, the more powers he will have and will have cultist traitors in his pay.

However, Creative Assembly has only presented a tiny part of its plans for the Gods of Chaos here, and plans many other announcements while waiting for the game's release to be postponed to early 2022.
