Sony finally allows to boost the storage of its PS5

The second major PlayStation 5 update is all around us soon. Indeed, Sony has just announced that it will be deployed tomorrow with many key improvements for most users.

The main novelty is undoubtedly the support for M.2 SSD drives to expand the storage space of the console. Once installed in the machine, these discs can be used to download, copy, move and launch games and applications. A guide to choosing the right one (size, heat dissipation, etc.) and installing your M.2 SSD is also available via Playstation.com.

Improvements on all floors

Who says major update also says interface improvements. In particular, we can note the possibility of customizing the control center by reorganizing the controls or by selecting those to hide or display at the bottom of the screen, while players can now display their messages and send them directly from the Game Base, in this same control center.

Different PS4 and PS5 versions of games are now displayed separately in the library and on the home screen, while screen reader users can now pause or resume it by pressing the PS and Triangle keys , when PS and R1 allow repetition.

But that's not all. PlayStation Now subscribers can now choose between 720p and 1080p as their preferred video resolution. On the multiplayer side, a new type of accolade, Leader, makes its appearance with this update. For fans of trophies, a new tracking system allows you to track up to five per game from the control center, and players fond of scoring will probably like the automatic capture of video clips when a personal best is beaten.

Finally, amidst other more minor improvements, 3D audio is now supported through the TVs built-in speakers, while the PS Remote Play app now supports mobile network when there is no Wi-Fi network. On September 23, the PS App will allow users to see their friends' screen-sharing broadcasts.
