Prologue: the creator of PUBG gives some details on the concept of his next game

Presented for the first time during The Game Awards 2019, Prologue remains two years later a project ultimately very mysterious. But Brendan Greene, the father of PUBG in person, recently reconsidered his ambitions for this title.

Last week, Greene formalized his departure from Krafton to work full-time with an independent team called PlayerUnknown's Productions. It is in this context and with the help of a small team that the creator of the famous battle royale will try to produce Prologue. This kind of technical demo is supposed to lead to a more ambitious project called “Artemis”.

A game already boring?

In Prologue, the player will have the opportunity to explore a gigantic map (64 km by 64 km) which will be procedurally generated with each new attempt. The sets will be inspired by European forests and a life-size coal mine will be part of it. Also, a weather forecast that is both dynamic and realistic will punctuate our wanderings. At the GamesBeat microphone, Brendan Green surprisingly explains that his game “will be quite boring”. Indeed, the primary goal will be to introduce a universe as well as a systemic gameplay based on survival.

Prologue will serve primarily as a concept that can evolve into Artemis, an even more ambitious title with worlds as large as entire planets (up to 6 km in radius). Resources will be limited, battles difficult, and survivors will be rewarded. Unfortunately, this project should not see the light of day for several years.
