PlayStation Plus: downloading PS3 games finally possible on PS5?

PlayStation Plus: downloading PS3 games finally possible on PS5?

Last week, Sony lifted the veil around its "new" service, the one that was still recently called " Project Spartacus ". A subscription service which will retain the name "PlayStation Plus" and which will absorb the PlayStation Now. But while the Japanese had announced that PS3 games could only be played in streaming, this could finally evolve…

PlayStation Plus subscribers who have opted for the “Premium” formula will be able to access several hundred titles from older generations from the PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4 and PSP toy libraries. And if it will be possible to stream and / or download the games of most consoles, the PlayStation 3 will be the only one not to benefit from the same treatment.

Download your PS3 games to PS5? Sony would think of a solution

Indeed, even if a selection of the PS3 catalog will be playable in streaming on PS5, via the PlayStation Plus subscription, the games cannot be directly downloaded on the next-generation console, unlike the game libraries of other Sony platforms. But according to the statements of journalist Jeff Grubb, finding a solution to emulate PS3 games directly from the PS5 would currently be in full reflection within the PlayStation teams.

While the journalist clarified that PS3 titles could in the future receive the same treatment as games from other consoles, according to his sources, this could however take some time. If no details have been communicated as to the reasons for this impossibility, remember that this would not be the first time that the Cell architecture of the PS3 would pose some problems.

Anyway, let's hope that Sony quickly manages to find a solution so that the PS3 can be housed in the same boat as its sisters.
