No Man's Sky: SENTINEL update arrives by surprise

No, Sean Murray and his Hello Games teams are not idle, to say the least. The creator of No Man's Sky just announced on its networks that a new big update called “SENTINEL” was deployed today for its space exploration game.

This update is mainly centered on the Sentinels, these very annoying robots that prevent us from ransacking all the planets that we discover. It should bring its share of intense fights.

Drones and mechas

SENTINEL is neither more nor less than the 18th major content update since the catastrophic release of No Man's Sky in 2016. A great continuous work from Hello Games. Sean Murray has shared the very substantial patch note which details what's new and added to his game and, while we're not going to give it an exhaustive tour, there are some takeaways.

First of all, as we were able to say, SENTINEL is turned towards... the Sentinels (yes yes). It is therefore these machines that benefit the most from the new features brought by update 3.8. Three new classes of drones are appearing: the Hardframe Battle Mech, a formidable large mecha whose plans can be looted to also build in its corner; the heavy combat drone and the repair drones which will come in large numbers to revive the other robots in combat. These Sentinels are controlled by well-guarded pillars that can be deactivated to collect interesting rewards and pause drone attacks.

In bulk then on the side of the novelties, we can find a new extension of the multi-tool which makes it possible to become invisible, the possibility of installing an autopilot on the Minotaur so that it follows us, a new Expedition centered on exobiology , an increase in the number of multi-tools that can be carried (from three to six)… Everything can be found on the patch note of the update in the source below.
