Despite its 25 years of age, the saga Pokémon continues again and again to create the event.

The recent Sparkling Diamond and Sparkling Pearl remakes on Nintendo Switch are further proof of this.

6 million sales… in 7 days

25 years ago, the Pokémon saga launched on Game Boy, with the Green and Red opuses. In 2021, the license has not lost its luster, with collectible cards that are snapping up, very popular cartoons, derivative products galore, but also video games that continue to be a hit.

The proof with the recent Pokémon Sparkling Diamond and Sparkling Pearl remakes on Nintendo Switch, which crossed the threshold of 6 million sales worldwide in just one week. In Japan alone, Nintendo has already sold more than 2 million (physical versions) of this new Pokémon doublet, launched on November 19. These figures will obviously continue to evolve over the days, especially at this end of the year period.

It remains to be seen whether sales will manage to match (or exceed) those of the Sword and Shield versions, knowing that a new Pokémon is already on the way. Indeed, Pokémon Legends: Arceus is scheduled for January 28, 2022, still on Nintendo Switch.
