How to get more storage in Animal Crossing New Horizons

Over time, you will run out of space in Animal Crossing New Horizons; Fortunately, there are several ways to expand your storage space.

How to increase storage in Animal Crossing New Horizons

To get more storage in Animal Crossing New Horizons, you'll need to upgrade your house; this can be done by talking to Tom Nook at Resident Services and choosing the Expand My Home Dialogue option. However, you will need at least 500k bells to expand your storage space; you will also need a completely remodeled home that includes the following items below.

  • Subsoil
  • Three bedrooms on the first floor
  • A bedroom upstairs
  • Loan debt fully repaid

Once you have built and paid for all of the above, you will then be able to talk to Tom Nook and choose the dialogue option to unlock more storage. If you select the expand my house option, your house's previous maximum storage space of 1600 will increase from 800 to 2400. That said, if you have the amount required to pay for the expansion, pay it, and you'll have to wait an in-game day for the upgrade to appear on your home.
