Fortnite: Epic throws the PvE mode with the bathwater

Available since the summer of 2017 with very relative success (if at all), the PvE mode of Fortnite fall further into oblivion.

You may not know it, but Fortnite was first a cooperative, paid PvE (players against the environment) game in which we had to team up to prevent a zombie invasion on our dear planet. But, during its initial release, we cannot say that the title was a success, so much so that, charmed by that of PUBG, Epic Games finally offered a battle royale mode in its title, with the cardboard that we know him.

A patch that changes everything

The PvE mode, called "Save the World", was nevertheless developed in parallel with the BR mode, and both are in "early access". Over the years, however, Epic Games has halted Save the World updates after an epic finale featuring a huge boss to defeat. This event also had repercussions in the BR. However, this first shovel did not prevent the mode from being again highlighted by the studio when the game was launched. But that is a thing of the past.

Indeed, since the last update, whether or not you have purchased Save the World, when launching the game, you are now obligatorily redirected to the battle royale mode instead of a menu offering the three modes of Fortnite: Save the World, Battle Royale and Creative. Moreover, from this same menu, you cannot simply "Change mode" in order to collect your daily rewards in PvE with a single click.

Too many clicks

If we understand Epic's choice to favor its most popular mode, those who used to go through this three-choice menu to first collect the rewards (which can be V-Bucks, the in-game currency ) before then going to BR mode with a single click are quite annoyed.

From now on, if you want to access the Save the World mode, you will have to go through the “My Library” tab, then find the mode in question in the ever-growing catalog of modes created by the community or the studio. Once selected, you must click "Ready" to finally be redirected to the Save the World menu.

Why not leave the choice to those who bought the mode? Mystery. But this modification, as innocuous as it is, once again proves Epic's desire to definitively draw a line under a bleak past that is synonymous with failure.
