Highly anticipated on May 27 on Disney +, the history of the series Obi-Wan Kenobi could cling to that of the no less expected Fallen Order 2.

The plot depicted in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order first of the name takes place in fact more or less in the same historical period as the exile of the venerable Jedi Master. But it's a recent interview with Ewan McGregor, the actor playing Obi-Wan, that further hints at a connection between the two works. He has indeed indicated that “the stories told in films, series, video games and other adaptations of the Star Wars universe must be canon between them”. Here's how that could translate to Respawn Entertainment's upcoming souls-like action-RPG.

Previously, in a galaxy far, far away...

A quick historical reminder is necessary in order to have all the keys in hand to connect the stories of the series and the game to come. A spoiler alert is therefore in order: close your eyes, those of Baby Yoda, and just in case, take to the skies and throw what you are reading this article about in the lava. It is done ? So, let's resume for those who know the story or who don't care about being spoiled.

The misadventures of Cal Kestis and Obi-Wan both take place several years after the infamous Order 66. Clones modified by an embedded chip "inadvertently" turned against their Jedi generals and participated in the near extinction of the order.

Cal was able to survive thanks to the sacrifice of his Master (we can also see him very young in an episode of The Bad Batch), while Obi-Wan went into exile to watch over Luke after the tragic death of Padme, and after leaving his brother and apprentice Anakin for dead on the volcanic banks of Mustafar.

In the meantime, Emperor Palpatine has established the Inquisition, a special force of elite Force-sensitive warriors tasked with hunting down the last surviving Jedi. These are also the main bosses in the first Fallen Order.

However, in the last official trailer of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series released during May the 4th, we can see that the latter would have been found on Tatooine by members of the Inquisition.

We can also see at the end of the trailer that the Jedi Master will be confronted with one of the most tragic trials of his life: his former apprentice, who, following his injuries, became the Darth Vader that we know. Another spoiler alert is in order, so follow the procedure recommended in the previous part again.

At the end of the first Fallen Order, Cal finds himself crushed by the majestic power of Darth Vader, before being saved in extremis by the true hero of the game: the adorable droid BD-1 (a similar model of which can be briefly seen in The Book of Boba Fett).

The presence of the Inquisition and Darth Vader in both works speaks volumes about their narrative connections. Fallen Order 2 should thus present us with a Cal Kestis more versed in the mastery of the Force, a few years after the events of the first opus.

Considering the latter was set roughly six years before the plot depicted in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, the opportunity to hang up the wagons between the sequel and the upcoming series seems too good to miss.

To be sure, however, we will have to wait for the release of Fallen Order 2, the date of which has not yet been announced. The next game from Respawn Entertainment should however be entitled to a proper presentation very soon.
