Particularly criticized for its jagged technical part, Dying Light 2 can be made more pleasing to the eye on its PC version thanks to the FSR d'AMD.

Despite an emphasis on NVIDIA's DLSS, AMD's technology is to a lesser extent also supported by Techland's latest FPS, and a Reddit user has found a way to enable Ultra Quality mode with the latter for better visual fidelity.

Dying Ultra Quality Light

While NVIDIA's DLSS does have the Ultra Quality preset on Dying Light 2, the FSR appears to have been left behind. TheHybred, a Reddit user, notably noticed that said preset is absent for AMD's technology, and that the sharpness value there is set to the lowest by default.

TheHybred therefore set out to examine the config file relating to the upscaling technology and came up with a solution allowing the famous preset to be activated unofficially for absent subscribers. To do this, here are the instructions he provides:

  • Enter in the Scale3D line (which controls the resolution) a value between 0.666667 and …77;
  • On the FSR line (which controls its sharpness): enter the value 1.000000;
  • On the Upscaler line (which determines which upscaler is used): enter the value (3);
  • Finally, enter on the Upscaling line (which determines the preset used by the FSR) the value (3). This value is also the most important to really activate the Ultra Quality of the FSR.

Once these values are entered, just save the config file and change its property to Read Only, in order to keep the modified values. By launching the game with the FSR activated, you should notice (it is the case to say it) a clear change.
