While he is currently inaugurating a crossover of anthology with other representatives of the independent world, among whom we find some fine blades like the knight of Hollow Knight Or that of Hyper Light Drifter, Dead Cells has just announced that it will have a new extension in 2022.

Baptized “The Queen and the Sea”, this one will introduce a breath of marine freshness into the metroidvania/rogue-like of the Bordeaux studio. On the occasion of its announcement, the additional content was illustrated in a short video featuring the DLC antagonist.

A queen determined to eliminate you

Despite being released over three years ago, Dead Cells is doing well. Very well even, since his aura has allowed him to attract the attention of many players internationally. This success, the Spanish studio Motion Twin continued to feed it by releasing several paid extensions (The Bad Seed and Fatal Falls), the third of which is planned for some time.

The indications are vague for the moment, we must be satisfied with a vague "early 2022". However, the additional content has already begun to distill some clues about its content. Just with its title, we can already note the arrival of new environments and a new opponent, in this case the Queen, who will give us a hard time.

Indeed, two new biomes are thus appearing, namely the Lighthouse and the Infested Shipwreck, and will be added at the end of the game, in parallel with the levels of the High Tower of the Castle and the Throne Room. This therefore implies that by offering players the possibility of facing the Queen, they will have the opportunity to discover a new ending.

In addition to this scenario addition, the game will benefit from a new type of challenge, according to the words of the developers, and will see, as with each new biome, appear enemies, weapons and a familiar yet unknown. Note that the release of the DLC will not mark the end of the game's follow-up, since Motion Twin plans to feed the game with free content for at least another year.
