Because the community of modders often has very good ideas to enrich games that are already excellent at the start.

Mentioned for the first time several months ago, Crusader Blade is a mod designed by a small team that somehow copies the concept of a Total War. The idea, however, is to enrich two popular PC games, Crusader Kings III on the one hand, and Mount & Blade II on the other.

Battles of the Middle Ages and great dynasties on the program

The first, Crusader Kings III is a grand strategy game designed by Paradox Interactive. On a vast map covering part of Eurasia, players can take control of a dynasty in order to carry it to the firmament, year after year, century after century.

For its part, Mount & Blade II is more of an action-RPG and focuses in particular on epic clashes between armies of the Middle Ages. While the first only includes very brief fights over which the player has very little control, the encounter with the second should allow this aspect of the game to be fleshed out.

Crusader Kings III and Mount & Blade II are indispensable

This is the whole point of Crusader Blade. This is a mod designed precisely so that the battles of Crusader Kings III are "transported" into Mount & Blade II. As soon as a fight is started in Crusader Kings III, the mod takes care of the conversions on its own so that the balance and composition of the armies are respected.

The player is sent to Mount & Blade II to lead his troops into the battlefield as the mod tries to adapt the in-game units of TaleWorlds to be closer to those of Crusader Kings III. Finally, very logically, the result of the battle is transferred back to the Paradox game, with all the losses suffered by the opposing sides.

Subsequently, the developers of Crusader Blade aim to add new game mechanics, and in particular to look into siege battles. They also hope to be able to add other units, integrate duels, and an inventory and equipment system. Note for our part that the mod is completely free, available on itch.io, but that it obviously requires having both games in the original version.
