Baldur's Gate III: Patch 6 introducing new class and new region is available

Thing promised, thing due: on the occasion of a Panel From Hell IV entitled Grimforge, Larian Studios presented the contents of the 6 Patch to Baldur's Gate III, already available on Steam et GOG.

Teased last week, this patch therefore introduces the Sorcerer class, as well as a brand new region that can be visited in early access, precisely called Grymforge, among others.

Forge the Arcana

If the arrival of a new class, which we will come back to shortly, is an event in itself, one of the highlights of this new Panel From Hell was Grymforge. This is a new region buried in Outland, one of the most difficult areas of the only Act I present in early access.

This will offer its share of new content, quests and mysteries, which will undoubtedly take several hours of play before going around. To access it, we will have to discover a series of events guiding our group towards Grymforge within Outland.

The other crucial element of this Patch 6 is of course the arrival of the eighth class of early access, the Sorcerer. Divided into two subclasses, the Draconic Lineage and Wild Magic, this new class will allow you to manipulate the arcane and luck to obtain many advantages… for a certain price. As its name suggests, the Dragon Lineage will allow the Sorcerer to derive their powers from a dragon ancestor. To better represent this heritage, it will be possible to wear scales on his character.

In addition to this new class, a plethora of new spells are appearing, some of which can be used by other classes with an affinity for magic. Finally, the Sorcerer class will be able to rely on Metamagic, a unique mechanism that will allow you to modify the effects of a spell to your advantage, or even mix different spells.

A Patch 6 also packed with content

If the Sorcerer has had the right to the limelight, the other classes are not left out on this Patch 6. Thus, the classes mastering certain weapons will benefit from all new actions particularly attractive for these, instead of having to settle for basic attacks. Martial class enthusiasts will also be delighted to learn that they will now be able to wield a salami in each hand!

The pangs of combat will also be visible on the characters, who will bear the marks of their wanderings throughout the adventure. Cutscenes and animations have been significantly improved on many levels. Finally, the game's already superb soundtrack (which we hope will one day appear on our Now Playing column) welcomes new songs in the menus and in various regions.

As indicated in a recent NVIDIA blog post, Baldur's Gate III supports DLSS 6 thanks to Patch 2.3, but also AMD's FidelityFX Super Resolution. Enough to enjoy better performance in the game, regardless of the graphics card used. This is also accompanied by a significant overall graphical improvement, particularly on volumetric effects, as well as some improvements in terms of stability.

The patch notes are also interested in a plethora of bug fixes and balances of all kinds. You will be able to consult in detail (in English) the truly titanic list of contents that this Patch 6 brings via the source quoted below. This one is already downloadable and fully deserves its title as the most massive patch to date on Baldur's Gate III, given its substantial weight.

If you skipped Baldur's Gate III Early Access, now you have a great excuse to return to the Forgotten Realms. If at least having a worm eating away at your brain doesn't bother you too much.
