In an update deployed on PC, which will find its way to the PS4 in a few weeks, Frictional Games announces the arrival of an "Adventure" mode, which erases all the horrific elements ofAmnesia Rebirth.

We can already hear the purists choking on their coffee like academicians at the sight of a midpoint. However, this new “Adventure” mode could well attract a new audience to the third installment of the horrific license.

Enjoy the atmosphere with a light heart

Released in October 2020, Amnesia: Rebirth would have already sold more than 100 copies. But there is no doubt that its first buyers have a strong heart, and some survival horror experience behind them.

Proud of the universe it has created (an Algerian desert and its hidden temples), Frictional Games therefore wishes to open up to a new audience, more focused on exploration and puzzle games. "The game still has a very serious theme and its sometimes disturbing vibe, but this new mode is much more like an Indiana Jones-type adventure in places where it would otherwise be a horror experience," says the director. creative Fredrik Olsson (via Gamekult).

Monsters are still around, but won't attack the player, and darkened environments are better lit. An approach that is reminiscent of the "Safe mode" of SOMA, the previous title of Frictional Games, which worked on a similar principle. We can also mention Prey, from Arkane Studios, which has a “Story Mode” in 2018.

To celebrate the release of Adventure mode, Amnesia: Rebirth is offered at -40% on Steam, GOG and EGS.
