There is almost no longer any doubt that the writer Alan Wake will emerge from the darkness before the end of the year. Indeed, a remastering is probably in the pipeline and it should include clear visual improvements.

After a big leak orchestrated by the Taiwanese branch of Rakuten, the existence of Alan Wake Remastered has been confirmed by various well-informed insiders. The title should even be formalized this week, perhaps during the PlayStation Showcase on Thursday. Anyway, new details about this reworked version were released on Monday by the NintendoPAL site.

A big visual overhaul in perspective?

If some might fear a simple smoothing of textures and better resolution, Remedy should go much further. So, according to these rumors, Alan Wake Remastered would switch to the Northlight Engine. The latter was notably used on the recent Control. The game would be compatible with ray tracing on its PS5, Xbox Series and PC versions. Players should also be able to experience this adventure in 60 FPS.

As for the PS4 and Xbox One versions, they would offer a boosted resolution and some additional improvements (but no ray tracing of course). Finally, the title of the Finnish studio would not be planned on Nintendo Switch, although a Cloud version is not totally excluded. Alan Wake Remastered could land on October 5, 2021.
